I have been using Google Calendar as my digital calendar for many years (probably since 2006). Google’s “Holidays and Celebrations in Turkey” calendar, despite some missing entries, was sufficient for my needs. However, as I gradually started moving away from the services of big tech companies, I decided to switch my calendar usage to Nextcloud Calendar, which I host on my own home server.
When I needed a new official holidays calendar, I checked Thunderbird’s holiday calendar, which I had used for years and had even contributed to its Turkish translation at one point. Unfortunately, its translation was both incomplete and incorrect. Although the calendar extended to 2027, the special days were entered manually, so it needed updating.
I immediately addressed this:
- Updated fixed official holidays according to the Gregorian calendar to repeat automatically.
- Added annually changing religious holidays based on the Hijri calendar up to the year 2030.
As a result, a fully updated digital calendar of official holidays in Turkey from 2024 to 2030 is now available.

I also added the update to Thunderbird’s GitHub repository, but since it wasn’t approved for three months, I decided to share it myself. I tested the calendar with Nextcloud Calendar, Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, Zoho Calendar, and a few .ics viewers.
To use the calendar:
- Create a new calendar in your preferred application.
- Import the shared link or download the file and add it to your calendar.
Now you can view all official holidays in your digital calendar, up-to-date and accurate.
